Acoustic Treatment

WHAT DOES ACOUSTIC TREATMENT DO? Custom Acoustic Treatments are very efficient at absorbing and controlling standing waves, low frequencies (LFs), and reflections in your room. They effectively trap the sound waves from bouncing, reflecting, and cancelling so you can hear the original source audio and not a muddy combination of reflections.

WHAT WILL I HEAR?

Everything! The more you reduce reflections, the more you will "hear" your speakers / source of audio, person speaking, or acoustic details in your environment. The perception by the ear is an increase of clarity, stereo image, and depth of what you are listening to.

WILL MY BASS DISAPPEAR?

No! In most cases you will experience better bass response and not need to drive your equipment as hard because you will hear the sound wave only once and not a muddy combination of reflections.

WHERE WILL ACOUSTIC TREATMENT HELP?

Studios, production rooms, practice rooms, home theaters, churches/places of worship, lecture halls, offices, treatment centers, daycares, gymnasiums, restaurants, and more.

HOW DOES ACOUSTIC TREATMENT WORK?

Acoustic treatments absorb acoustic energy by damping broadband frequency sound energy with the goal of attaining a flatter frequency room response by reducing resonances. These traps are porous absorbers and have a more broadband action as opposed to resonating absorbers (eg Helmholtz resonators) which have a more narrowband action.

WILL ACOUSTIC TREATMENT HELP MY ROOM?

Yes. If you have ever turned up your source of audio to try and hear it better, if you have ever found the singer/speaker hard to understand, if you could hear the person speaking but their words sounded mumbled, if you have tried to mask environmental noise with music, or if your music suffers from "one note bass" – acoustic treatments will help because you have many frequencies of audio reflecting, cancelling, and combining within your listening space.

WHAT ABOUT CURTAINS & CARPET?

Curtains and carpet will reduce reflections in a room, but they do not have the thickness required to remove lower frequencies. Curtains and carpet tend to remove mid, upper mid, and high frequencies. This makes matters worse because now your mid to high frequencies are missing, the LFs are still present, and no matter how much you "turn it up" the clarity is still missing, the bass is boomy, and it all sounds like muddy mush.

WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE FOR ACOUSTIC TREATMENTS?

Corners. They are definitely most efficient straddling a corner; preferably near the ceiling. Also flat on the wall if you are trying to control mid wall reflections. They are lightweight and hang like a picture, or simply just lean them somewhere.

WHAT ARE ACOUSTIC TREATMENTS MADE OF?

They are made with 3.5 inch thick, non-toxic, highly absorbent/dense rock wool, backed (or wrapped) in a wood frame with reinforced corners, and wrapped in a breathable fabric.

WHAT IS THE LEAST EXPENSIVE THING I CAN DO TO MAKE MY SOUND SYSTEM SOUND BETTER?

Buy a six-pack. Next to that, treat your listening room with something like acoustic treatments. You can make a MUCH larger impact on the quality of what you hear for much less money by correcting your listening environment than you can by buying more expensive gear.
You will realize a far greater return by fixing your room first....of course, then buy the fancy gear!
